Scarcity in today´s consumer markets: scoping the research landscape by author keywords

Abstract Scarcity refers to not having enough of what one needs. This phenomenon has shaped individuals´ life since ancient times, nowadays ranging from daily-life scarcity cues in shopping scenarios the planet’s resources meet world´s consumer demand. Because this ubiquity scarcity, topic been attracting attention scholars and practitioners different areas. Studies regarding were conducted across disciplines, based on assumptions, focused distinct study subjects. A lack mainstream about hindered convergence core ideas among schools thought. In article, we take an integrative socio-economic perspective join diverse findings affecting markets, identify topic-specific research questions still be answered, provide suggestions for future opportunities. systematic review author keywords 855 publications analyzing business-consumer interactions serves as a database. Exploratory factor analyses shared patterns within linkages discourses stemming various disciplines theories. Results differentiate foci behavior, socio-political, other disciplinary realms. mapping these themes identifies scarcity-related interplay consumers, producers, stakeholders. Findings point out directions studies at both realm level interdisciplinary level.
